What is Dubai Marina?

The Dubai Marina, or Dubai Marina, is a perfect example of the United Arab Emirates’ folie de grandeur! This posh district, criss-crossed by artificial canals, is built along a three-kilometer stretch of the Persian Gulf coastline. With just over 55,000 inhabitants, this district is dynamic, prestigious and ultra-commercial.

To build this colorful project, the promoters achieved a remarkable feat: bringing the waters of the Persian Gulf to the site of the Dubai Marina to create a new waterfront, with a waterway carved out of the desert and running along the three kilometers. Approximately 8 kilometers of landscaped public walkways run through the site to allow for safe and fluid traffic flow. As is often the case, Emirati authorities claim that this is the largest man-made marina in the world, but no official title has been given to support this claim.

Dubai Marina stretches from Al Sufouh Road to Dubai Media City and includes several stretches of beach. If you’re lucky, you might even spot some whales during the migration season! Before we go into detail about the various attractions to do in this unique canal city, let’s review the different means of transportation to Dubai Marina and the average prices of the most common routes.

Price of a cab from Dubai Airport to Dubai Marina

In Dubai and more widely in the United Arab Emirates, cabs are still the most popular means of transportation for locals and tourists. The public transport network is indeed under-dimensioned compared to the dazzling development of the city. In a country that experiences scorching temperatures exceeding 43° C several times a year, walking, biking and motorcycling are not really options.

Dubai Marina is about 33 kilometers south of Dubai International Airport DBX (Matar Dubai el Dawlyy in Arabic, Dubai International Airport in English).

It is worth noting that DBX airport handles more than 89 million international passengers annually, making it the third busiest airport in the world. And since Dubai Marina is a must-see attraction for the millions of tourists who visit the city every year, the Dubai International Airport – Dubai Marina route is made several times a day by cabs, private drivers and private cars.

Here’s all you need to know about Dubai Taxi Corporation (DTC) cab fares for the Dubai International Airport – Dubai Marina route:

  • The Dubai Taxi Corporation provides travelers with a fleet of cabs that are permanently parked in front of the three terminals at DBX airport;
  • The drivers of the airport cabs offer a small assistance to load your luggage in the trunk of the vehicles (mainly Toyota and Hyundai).
  • The meter starts at 25 Emirati dirhams (AED), or about 6.5 euros;
  • The kilometer is charged at 1.96 AED, or a little more than 0.5 € ;
  • During the day, and in normal traffic conditions, a cab ride from Dubai International Airport to Dubai Marina will cost you around AED 100, or about €27. It takes about 26 minutes to get there via the E11;
  • At night and/or in case of traffic jams, the trip from Dubai Airport to Dubai Marina will cost you AED 130, which is a little more than €35. Allow about 40 minutes in case of traffic jam.

Dubai Airport – Dubai Marina with other means of transportation

As is often the case, the bus is the cheapest option for getting from Dubai International Airport to Dubai Marina. The bus of line 8 makes the trip for about ten Emirati dirhams (2,7 €), but you should not be in a hurry. Indeed, the journey takes more than two hours!

You can also opt for the metro from Dubai International Airport to Dubai Marina (the famous Red Line). There is a metro every three minutes from the airport to the marina. It costs about 10 Emirati dirhams (about €2.7) for the 50-minute ride.

Dubai Airport – Dubai Marina with a private driver

After your long-haul flight from Paris to Dubai, you want to get to Dubai Marina under royal conditions. The cab ball in front of the airport terminal? Not for you. The bus to cover a few kilometers in several hours? Not an option. The metro in the middle of a heat wave? Not your cup of tea. Renting a car with all the risks involved in driving in a foreign country? Not really a good idea. How about hiring a private driver who will meet you in a luxury car upon your arrival and escort you to the Dubai Marina in the proper manner?

AS VIP puts its fleet of Mercedes Class V cars at your disposal to move around Dubai in complete serenity. Reliable, courteous and professional, your driver will drive you to the Dubai Marina in about 25 minutes. You will benefit from the Wifi on board, the centralized air-conditioning, the fresh drinks and the delicacies at will. We charge very low rates without compromising on the quality of the service. Count AED 160 for two hours in Dubai (about 44 €) and AED 500 for 8 hours (about 135 €). These rates include pick-up, transportation, any toll charges, VAT and all services on board for all passengers.

The price of a cab from Sharjah Airport to Dubai Marina

Dubai Marina is about 60 kilometers south of Sharjah International Airport. If you choose to take a cab, expect to pay between AED 150 and AED 180 (€41 to €50) for the 40-minute trip. Again, the price varies depending on the time of pick-up and the density of traffic.

You can also take the bus (line 99) and then the metro. Count around 25 AED (about 6,75 €) for this trip which lasts up to two and a half hours. Again, you can opt for the comfortable solution with a private driver who will welcome you in a luxury car. You will arrive relaxed and energized to discover the beautiful canal city of Dubai Marina!

Dubai Water Taxi: how much does it cost?

Dubai has a fleet of water cabs (Water TaxiTaxi Boat) that operate between 10am and 10pm. Each water cab can accommodate up to 11 people departing from one of the 44 stations located in the two operational areas, namely Dubai Marina (Area 1) and Dubai Canal (Area 2). The program includes LCD monitors in each seat, centralized air conditioning, luxury seats that recline up to 45° and, above all, unprecedented views of Dubai from a different angle. The route map includes, among others, Atlantis Station, Rixos Hotel, Marina Terrace Station, Jebel Ali Golf Club, Godolphin or Dubai Marina.

Dubai Water Taxi fares are calculated according to the distance traveled between the many stops in the city. As you will see, the prices are relatively high for the quality of the service. For example, you can expect to pay 330 AED (about 90 €) for a trip between the Spice Souk and the Dubai Marina. The short trip between Bur Dubai (Old City) and Deira costs 75 AED (about 21 €).

Boat cab from Dubai Marina to Atlantis

The Atlantis Hotel, or Atlantis The Palm, is an iconic hotel in the United Arab Emirates. Located on the artificial archipelago of Jumeirah, this impressive building has 1,539 rooms, 2 underwater suites, 21 aquariums, 17 restaurants and bars, a large water park, a nightclub, a health center, etc. To keep with the theme of excess, you can take a water cab from the Dubai Marina to the Atlantis Hotel. It costs about AED 125 (€34) for this short trip.

What to do in Dubai Marina?

Before going any further, you should know that the Dubai Marina is still under construction. Indeed, developers have yet to deliver villas and other residential buildings. Nevertheless, the Marina remains a point of interest in Dubai with many attractions to visit. AS VIP offers you a small summary:
